At The Law Offices of Scott Gross, P.C., our Long Island criminal defense attorney is dedicated to the rights of his clients. Attorney Gross is currently representing a Suffolk County police sergeant, who has been accused of stopping Hispanic drivers, and stealing their money. However, a key piece of the evidence against our client may be suppressed due to the actions of a Latino advocacy group, Make the Road New York.

A Key Piece of Evidence

In investigating the case against our client, Attorney Gross discovered that prosecutors actually met with officials from the advocacy group to request assistance in finding other victims shortly after the arrest. Despite the fact that the identity of many of these victims has not been disclosed to our client or our firm, the prosecution still attempted to use their positive identifications of our client as evidence in court.

Scott Gross Stands Strong

Attorney Gross argued to Justice Fernando Camacho that he has the right to question those who are accusing our client of theft. The major issue is procedure – if the advocacy group showed these individuals pictures of our client before notifying the police, then the evidence could be severely tampered. Justice Camacho agreed with Attorney Gross, and ordered prosecutors to bring the accusers into court in early December.
